WHERE WE CAME FROM
As a collaborative effort to reduce the trauma that occurs following child abuse disclosure, the Washington County Multidisciplinary Team established Ray of Hope Advocacy Center in May of 2005 and has been an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance since 2006. Since opening, the center has provided services to more than 4,500 children and adults in Washington, Nowata, and Osage counties. Bringing together representatives from many disciplines (law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy), Ray of Hope facilitates improved communication and team decisions about the investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of abuse cases. In 2019, Ray of Hope because certified by the Oklahoma Office of Attorney General to serve survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
